About
Yu-Wen Wu is an interdisciplinary artist based in Boston, MA. She was born in Taipei, Taiwan and moved to the United States when she was five years old. Her work is informed by her experience as an immigrant and centers themes of migration, issues of displacement, assimilation, and identity in a new country. She combines her background in both art and science to create large-scale drawings, sculptures, video installations, community-engaged practices, and public art.
Her work is in the collections of the Amon Carter Museum of America Art, the Boston Public Library, the Davis Museum of Art at Wellesley College, the Harvard Art Museums, the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, the Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University, and other private and public collections. She was also a 2024 Stepping Stone Cohort of the Trellis Art Fund, the 2024 Artist-in-Residence at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and a 2023 recipient of the James and Audrey Foster Prize.
